HEMPISM: legalizing Cannabis and saving the world!
H: The Hemp Industry
Hemp can create jobs in different industries:
- The paper industry- it has been known that hemp can potentially yield a higher percentage of paper than trees. Producing hemp paper can help save the environment, replenish our forests and slow down global warming.
- The construction industry- hemp can stimulate the creation of “green” building materials with the creation of “hemp concrete” which is beneficial in removing CO2 from our environment.
- Plastics/Chemical industries- plastics, including biodegradable cups and plates as well as several chemicals can be made from hemp. Did you know that Henry Ford Built a car entirely made out of hemp back in the day?
- The food industry- many foods can be made from and enriched with hemp seed. Hemp seed is very nutritious and has long been used in vegan diets.
- The cosmetics industry- it is entirely possible to create cosmetics out of hemp that are not only skin-friendly but do not require animal testing because they can be made chemical-free.
- The fuel industry- hemp is a simple replacement for more expensive crops in the creation of biofuel. As a matter of fact, it is the second best source of cellulose sugars next to switchgrass, but is less expensive to produce because it has a shorter crop cycle.
E: The Environment
Hemp is great for the environment:
- It helps to restore soil- the hemp plant restores soil through aerating and removing toxins in the very place that it’s growing.
- It removes CO2 from the atmosphere- as most plants, hemp removes CO2 from the atmosphere; it can also be used to encapsulate CO2 in building materials.
- Hemp is naturally pest resistant- making it organic and inexpensive to grow.
M: Medical use
Hemp has many beneficial medical uses:
- It increases appetite- THC has been clinically proven to improve appetite and reverse weight loss in AIDS patients.
- THC is used to relieve pain and promote relaxation- THC has been widely accepted as a muscle relaxant and a reliever of chronic pain conditions.
P: Profit
Hemp for profit, It helps us Americans, including the Federal Government:
- Taxes- the money generated by the hemp industry will generate millions of dollars in public revenue, relieving our increasing tax burdens and assisting the government to relieve Federal and State deficits.
- Cannabis Prosecution- the government is spending millions of dollars each year needlessly prosecuting and reinforcing the current Cannabis laws; this money is increasing deficits and taking money away from budgets such as public education.
I: Injustices
There are many injustices tied to the current anti-Cannabis legislation:
- The Schedule I classification of Cannabis is ruining families and destroying lives- the improper prosecution of individuals that are accused of the possession of inconsequential amounts of Cannabis is severe and ill-fitting for the “crime” being committed.
- Valuable resources are being diverted from the war on drugs- by using the current levels of capital and manpower to enforce anti-Cannabis campaigns we are draining our nations resources that could be redirected in bigger efforts to enforce legislation against the use of harmful substances.
S: Safety
Contrary to popular belief..
- Cannabis is safe, social, and peaceful.
M: Myths
Who came up with this stuff?
- Cannabis does not:
- Make people do hard drugs,
- It does not cause brain damage,
- It isn’t damaging to the reproductive system
- AND it does not cause fatal accidents similar to those caused by alcohol consumption.
*These are just a few of the many misconceptions that lead people to believe that Cannabis is harmful to our society.
